Czech Republic 2000/01, 88 min / 35mm, Farbe, OmeU
director: Miroslav Janek, Vít Janecek, Roman Vávra

Screenplay: Miroslav Janek, Vít Janecek, Roman Vávra
Cinematography: Miroslav Janek, Vít Janecek, Roman Vávra
Editor: Tonicka Janková
Featuring: Inhabitants of the village Bystré
Producer: Richard Nemec, Anna Becková
Production: Verbascum, Prague, for Ceská televize, Prague

Using a mixture of documentary material they shot themselves, historical material and half-scripted scenes, the filmmakers show life in the small Czech village Bystré. The ordinary mixes with the spectacular, like when the whole village reconstructs a battle from World War 2 with tanks and explosive devices. But this historical event is only one of the many stories and legends from which the people of Bystré put together their village's history. They tell anecdotes about crazy arsonists, rapacious foxes, or brave partisan warriors being killed by the Nazis.
The filmmakers accompany a fireman's funeral and celebrate the new millennium with the villagers. A group of elderly women remembers times long gone, when the economy was good, the local textile factory still flourished, and they had "little money but lots of fun". One 92-year-old granny still picks weed on her son's potato field. It's the stories written down in the village chronicles which give Bystré its own profile, and it's people like this old woman who give it a face.

"Wladimir 518"
- Prague
20:00
In Autumn 2003 the new, OK presentation format aired on Thursdays "Radius" dedicates itself
to the forms of mostly collective self-organisation, which can be described by the collective term "labels". Thereby not only artistic specifications, but also the question for the (micro-)political relevance of such socio-cultural activism are put to discussion

czech_in at the OK: The Prague Recordings
Part 1 of the "Radius"-focus "label-politics" reflected positions, production conditions and (international) kinship of current Czech labels.

"Wladimir 518" was one of the figureheads of the Prague sprayer scene. Now he publishes a graffiti magazine and partly acts in the context of art, and runs - besides his membership in the rap group " Peneri Strycka Homeboye" - the HipHop-label "Terrorist? Records", which not only publishes Czech music, but which also serves as a platform for the networking of eastern European HipHop-acts

Zlata Kozacka
"The golden boot", Prague 20:00
A group of 12 artists from Prague show their critical, flashy stand-up comedy performance - in Czech!

„Minimum input, maximum style“ - Rallye Kabarett
Zlata Kozacka is already well known in Prague. Some people among their fans even think it is not exaggerated to compare them with the legendary Monthy Pythons. The comparison may be bold, yet it is not entirely absurd, as on the one hand we are confronted with a schemed freak show, and on the other it can well be regarded as an unconventional, post-modern satire.
Scenes like "the talking stomach of a snob", "selling a senile, retired couple" or "the training of an disabled person" make the performance memorable.
The ensemble consists of well known as well as less well known faces of the Czech alternative scene. Like for example Pablo de Sax – writer of the bestseller „Tak pravil Vincent“, Hank Jesus Manchini, former leader of the cult band „Rany Tela“, naturally Bruno Ferrari, founder and impresario of the cabaret (a bon vivant and heartbreaker), Mister Nemyl Zapotek – former competitor in Olympic games, today actor on diverse comedy stages, and last not least the Prague dandy and chansonnier Count Koroptieff.
The cabaret is stamped by the charisma of its actors.
"Each of us portrays a character which is in some way directly contrasting or parodying our real personalities. It is important for us to be able to make fun of ourselves. But in the end they are characters who know how to win the audience over to their side with only a gesture or a facial expression."
The elegantly chanted pieces in the style of salon-pop serve as pleasant bridges between the sketches.

„Zlata Kozacka is our way of spitting into your face. We have all got a punk past. From those days we have maintained the habit not to burden ourselves with too many rehearsals. Our motto is: "Minimum input, maximum style". And our experience has proven that especially those scenes which we rehearsed the least, are best received by the audience." Bruno Ferrari explains.
